I was so blown away with a visit to Sky Garden that from this day forth I shall always recommend it to tourists, visitors and Londoners alike. At the top of an office block on Fenchurch Street, the garden is not much in the way of lush vegetation (although it does have a nice array of plants) but who cares when out of the mahoosive windows you get a 360 degree view of London, a.k.a one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cities in the world.
It's free to get in, but you do need to book online in advance and go through an airport-style security check-in. An open-air terrace allows you to breathe in the city smog as you marvel at the historical landscape merging with the architectural new. Once you've finished ooh-ing and aah-ing at the wonder that is London from a great height, you can dine in one of three restaurants (booking recommended), or just have a coffee or beer at the terrace bar.
We enjoyed people-watching with some good old hot chocolate and pastries. Everything tastes better when your'e a bajillion storeys high.
The views from the Sky Garden are amazing. All of them. You can play spot the building, spot the bridge, spot the teeny, tiny people. It's a fantastic, free way to get some London views in. Try and go on a clear day if you can!
