Woo hoo! Tomorrow we drink prosecco until the sun comes up, probably whilst dancing to Justin Bieber and feebly pretending to hate his new album. For it is New Years Eve, the last night of 2015 indulgence and hedonism before 2016 starts and strict resolutions begin. What to wear? Who cares! So long as there's eye glitter involved you'll be grand, it's a night where sparkles and shimmers are positively encouraged. Father Christmas brought me four new eye beauties and they've been pretty much used on rotation since Christmas Day. Above we have two of Illamasqua's Pure Pigments in Beguile, a pretty silver that's great on it's own or adds sparkle layered over any other colour, and Ore, a gorgeous glittery bronze.
Some of the Pure Pigments glide on and are more of a high sheen, but others, like these two, have fairly chunky glitter and need to go on with care. There can be a bit of fallout, so it helps to layer them over a cream base, even a sheer one. I think they're quite a grown-up glitter, more party girl about town than twelve year old slapping on the Barry M.
This gem is Dior's Blazing, part of their limited edition Christmas 2015 range. Can we take a moment to stare at the sheer sparkly wonderment of this shade? It was love at first sight, and the swatch (below) didn't let me down. It's described as a gel-mousse with an ultra-matte finish, but for me it's a beautiful satin with some fine glitter that I wasn't expecting, but totally welcomed. It reflects light like no other, and is perfect for layering with other shades or glitters. It's very buildable, so I've been wearing it as a daytime shade, there's nowt wrong with sparkles at any time of day or night. In my book.
Finally, we have a Burberry Eye Colour Glow in Shell. I fell for this after seeing it one of Mallory 1712's YouTube tutorials. It's a gorgeous, luminous eyeshadow that can be worn wet or dry. It glides on like butter and is easy to blend with a crease colour, or to wear as a top coat or even a base for other colours. It's the kind of colour that makes blue eyes pop, but has also been great for opening up my hazel eyes and bringing out the green in them. Let's be real, this shade would suit anyone, and it works amazingly to highlight inner-eye corners and under brow bones. I thank Mallory and her beauty vlogs of amazingness for putting this on my radar (and right into my makeup collection).
Whatever you're doing for NYE make sure you have a safe and sparkly one. I raise my prosecco glass to you. And... (subtle segue slash plug) if you happen to need an Uber during the party season, first time users can get a free ride up to £15 with my code PROSECCO. Happy new year!
