It's that time of year when you see the first signs of spring edging their way in. Well - we're talking UK spring here, so that equates to an extra ten minutes of sunshine a day, and a few daffodils and crocuses sprouting in gardens. All the same, you start thinking about making a few changes, perhaps lightening your hair colour or adding some brighter colours to your makeup collection. I couldn't have been happier when Just My Look asked me to pick a few things from their site to review, not least because I chose these spring clean-up-my-look items, but also because now I have Just My Look on my radar - a website for saving money on beauty products. Hell yeah!
The service is absolutely pain-free, just fill your basket, pay and it's all delivered within days. You can save bucks on great brands like Urban Decay, Philip Kingsey, and St. Tropez, as well as getting more access to brands not widely sold in the UK, such as Milani, L.A Girl and The Balm. There's a fantastic range of men's grooming products, and also electricals including curling irons and straighteners. I cannot sing the praises of TIGI Catwalk shampoo and conditioner enough: salon-quality hair care that comes in huge double packs for as little as £13 (they also currently come with a mystery free gift!). I decided to try the Fashionista Violet Shampoo and Conditioner (top picture), an alarmingly bright purple shampoo that's sulphate-free, boosts cool tones, and delivers shine to blonde, grey or white hair. Anyone who highlights or colours their hair blonde knows you'll become victim of brassiness at some point, usually after being in the sun. This shampoo reduces that like a dream, and when I stood under my bright bathroom light, the cool highlights in my hair were literally sparkling. It's hard to make blonde shiny as it doesn't reflect light, but goddam this shampoo brightened my barnet. The conditioner is very softening too, and protects coloured hair from drying out. This dream team is safe to use for every wash, or you can just use it a sporadic brightening treatment.
Nails need a spring fling too, and OPI is one of the best for easy to apply and long lasting polish in cute colours. It's not spring without some yellow, so I chose this cute daffodil-esque hue (below) called Never a Dulles Moment. You Don't Know Jacques (above right) is a grey-toned mauve to add a touch of seasonal sophistication, and Viking in a Vinter Wonderland is not really spring-appropes, but I couldn't resist its ultra glossy deep purpleness.
