We Ride Upon Sticks

 I managed to fit some reading in around Halloween despite a jam-packed half term schedule of taking my niece and nephews out and about. We Ride Upon Sticks is suitably spooky, a fun YA novel about a high school hockey team of witches, and it's set in the 1980s. This coming of age tale challenges the expectations placed upon girls, and tackles female sexuality and the true meaning of empowerment. All with an 80s pop soundtrack and some excellent descriptions of hair and outfits from this era. I can imagine this being made in to a Netflix film, fitting in nicely with the Stranger Things vibe.
