A Quiet Place 2 Screening

 This week I was invited by Paramount Pictures to an advance screening of A Quiet Place 2 at the IMAX screen at Cineworld, Leicester Square - the first time I've been to the cinema since the UK locked-down in March 2020. I had been invited to a screening of the same film the exact week the government shut us down, so I was pleased to get re-invited. I am sad to hear this has caused writer/director/star John Krasinski so much hassle, he's apparently losing out on loads of money from there not being a long period of cinema screenings worldwide as there would have been pre-pandemic. I hope this is resolved because this is such a good sequel, and needs to be seen on the big screen. I'm not a fan of horror per-se, but this alien-monster attack film is different in that it has a very human and family-focused vibe (though not suitable for kids!). In this sequel the fam are on the move, having the advantage of all be able to understand sign language in a world where any sound now leads to imminent monster attack. It's never predictable, so there's jump-scares a-plenty, and I was almost surprised when it was over - having that "I want more!" feeling. This could easily have been a long Netflix TV series, and maybe Krasinski now wishes it was, but it's definitely left open for part 3, and I cannot WAIT for that.By the way, we're all usually crammed in to one screen for press screenings, but this time we had to choose from one of ten different dates so we could all be separated. It may look sad and empty in the pic, but I appreciated having so much space around us, and wearing a mask during the film didn't feel as odd as I thought it might. I'm still not raring to go to public screenings as quickly, but I realised how much I'd missed big, loud films - even ones that are mostly quiet like this one.A Quiet Place 2 is on general release from the 31st of May
